Don't' Stop Believing; Inspiring Students to Persist with Purpose Pre-Conference Sessions
Morning Sessions
The ACTP Tutor Trainer Certification program is designed for higher education professionals who provide training for tutors. Directors and coordinators would benefit immensely as well.
This training and certification takes place during ACTP's annual conference.
Trainers receive ACTPs professional certification at the annual conference following the full training over three days. Training focuses on equipping tutor trainers with a comprehensive, evidenced-based approach to Learning Assistance.
After the ACTP conference, all certified Tutor Trainers are able to train their tutors using best practices from the ACTP Roadmap. Following training, trainers will use the TracCloud Tutor Trainer Software to verify that individual tutors have met the minimum requirements.
PRESENTER: Dr. Allan Craig, Retired Learning & Tutoring Center Director, Georgia State University
As a new college learning center director, a focus would be on defining and building a vision for academic support that meets the needs of the student body.
The goal is to create an inclusive and dynamic center that serves as a central hub for student success and collaborative learning.
Presented by the award-winning team from Rutgers University Learning Centers:
Lissette Morales, Academic Coach, ICF-trained, ACTP-certified coach, keynote speaker, specializing in ADHD coaching and motivational interviewing, Neuro-divergent Expertise Marci Rubin, Academic Coach ICF-certified ADHD coach and certified yoga and meditation instructor helping students build focus, balance, and resilience. Mackenzie Barry, Doctoral candidate and ACTP Institute coach-in-training researching cognitive load and brain-based learning principles, helping students work smarter.
Session Overview: Have you ever worked with a student who stares at a blank screen for hours, rewrites the same paragraph ten times, or keeps getting sidetracked? We call it procrastination, perfectionism, distractibility—but what if those are just the tip of the iceberg? Behind the scenes, many are battling invisible barriers to starting, focusing, and finishing academic tasks. Whether these challenges stem from ADHD, anxiety, perfectionism, or simply the demands of college life, the strategies in this session apply broadly—and effectively.
This hands-on preconference intensive gives coaches the tools to help students ignite motivation, sustain focus, and drive tasks to completion. Attendees walk away with a ready-to-use toolkit for immediate impact.
